Electronic Compliance Management Tool (ECMT)

This Electronic Compliance Management Tool (ECMT) has been developed by the Daranta strategic partnership as the ultimate solution for addressing the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) requirements relevant to any Exploration and Development Company’s upstream activities in the jurisdiction of Nigeria . All phases of activity connected with exploration and production of oil and gas in Nigeria are subject to government legislation designed to enhance the Health and Safety of workers and the public as well as to preserve the ecosystems within operating areas.

Major phases of upstream work where regulatory compliance in Health, Safety and Environment are required include Concession, Exploration, Development, Production Operations and Abandonment of leases. Compliance is mandatory in certain cases and is rewarded by stakeholder goodwill and increased uptime and revenue. On the other hand, infractions are penalized with financial levies and could include imprisonment of responsible persons with the attendant bad press and loss of revenue.

The relevant Nigerian Petroleum laws, legislation and guidance promulgated and issued by the principal agencies – the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Federal Environmental Protection Agency (FEPA), the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), the National Maritime Agency (NMA) etc with respect to HSE have been encapsulated into the database of this tool. The framework of this tool comprises document and workflow structure that ensures compliance monitoring capability and due diligence for the five different phases of typical upstream activities. This ensures activities are consistent with statutory requirements as well as the internal policies of good corporate governance and responsibility with minimal manual input.
